Section 1: The Eminent Archon
The Eminent Archon is the highest-ranking officer that personally represents the reputation and outstanding history of Tennessee Kappa from 1879.
The revered John O. Moseley, who was born in Meridian, Mississippi, was a Rhodes Scholar, a Lieutenant in World War I, was the Dean of Students at the University of Tennessee. When he was Eminent Supreme Archon of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, he established the John O. Moseley School of Leadership. Moseley often stated that “Tennessee Kappa is the brightest jewel in Minerva’s crown.”
The Eminent Archon truly accepts responsibility for every aspect of the fraternity under his tenure and builds the platform for the next Eminent Archon to take Tennessee Kappa to an even higher level.
This position should be taken with the highest level of seriousness and wisdom, and understand that the Eminent Archon impacts the destiny of Tennessee Kappa.
The Eminent Archon will:
Preside at meetings of the active chapter, Executive Committee, Finance Committee and House Corporation.
Have a seat on all subcommittees, including, but not limited to, Social, Recruitment, Judicial, and Risk.
Attend all IFC meetings.
Be a representative for the fraternity on campus, attending various meetings, luncheons, dinners, banquets, functions, etc.
File a report with the National Office at the end of his term listing developments, problems, and future recommendations.
Be familiar with all officers’ duties and be prepared to perform these duties if an officer is not performing them.
Enforce all chapter Bylaws and fine members who are breaking any of the Bylaws.
Be held responsible for appointing needed positions.
Be responsible for maintaining a log of all Chapter house residents and administering all provisions of the Bylaws relating to residence in the chapter house.
Provide the Chapter Advisor: a calendar of events and minutes of each chapter meeting.
Be responsible for ensuring that each chapter meeting follows Robert’s Rules of Order.
Not commit the chapter to any contract, whether written or verbal or otherwise, or authorize for the amount of $3,500.00 or more without specific approval of the Chapter Advisor.
Perform all duties set forth in the National Laws, Title VI, Article 37, Section A.
