Section 19: Scholarship Chairman
Being a brother in Tennessee Kappa should increase our life performance, not just during our undergraduate days, but doing what we need to ensure that we are ready to thrive before and after we graduate. We attend the University of Tennessee to gain an excellent education and build the platform for a thriving life, particularly in terms of scholarship.
The Scholarship Chairman accepts the responsibility to do whatever it takes to ensure that every active member of Tennessee Kappa has what he needs to successfully perform at his highest academic level. At times, this requires speaking with frankness and with sincerity and sympathy to assist every member when needed.
The Scholarship Chairman will:
Be responsible for building the mechanisms to ensure that every active has what he needs to thrive academically.
Review all GPA reports each semester and set up meetings with members that did not meet the chapter GPA requirement
Attend all mandatory study hall sessions or find a suitable replacement representative. Should no representative attend any mandatory study hall session, the Scholarship Chairman will be fined $20 by the Eminent Warden.
Be responsible for creating a list of classes and professors that members should take and/or not take.
Understand the parameters of the available Sigma Alpha Epsilon scholarships.
Ensure the relevant and appropriate processes are followed to ensure these scholarships are applied for in a timely basis.
The Scholarship Chairman is responsible for sending out weekly communication to the active chapter with scholarship opportunities, as well as various photos and recaps of events to boost morale.
Be knowledgeable of all Standards of Fraternal Excellence (SOFE) requirements and submit a plan to meet the required 70 points prior to the beginning of the academic year.
Strive to be a 3-Star chapter and plan events/speakers/etc. appropriately
Submit all necessary SOFE points through the OSFL website
Attend all required SOFE training meetings
Select appropriate candidates for scholarship/academic awards at the end of the year.
Not commit the chapter to any contract, whether written or verbal or otherwise, nor has any spending authority whatsoever.
Perform all duties set forth in the National Laws, Title VII, Article 53, Section N
